Snapshot

This is such a striking image of Anna de Rijk in a beauty spread for Vogue Paris March. Shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, Anna looks supremely beautiful in some dramatic face paint and accessories.

Milano is calling

Highlights from Milan Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2011

Emilio Pucci

Every season, the Pucci show is bold and bright and for this showing, it was no different. Designer Peter Dundas certainly kept me in awe with some sexy, form-fitting ensembles in incredible prints and baroque embellishments. A beautiful collection indeed.

Dolce & Gabbana

Talk about a complete 360 by Dolce & Gabbana, from their ultra feminine, all white Spring collction to this explosive, masculine collection. They had me seeing literal stars with elegant dresses and pants in a playful star print. I loved the rock 'n roll menswear - the suit jackets, suspenders and pork pie hats in crystal embellishments, lace and jewel tones. This has to be one of my favourite Dolce & Gabbana collections. (And it was lovely seeing South Africa's very own Candice Swanepoel on the ramp).

Versace

Donatella's one talented woman, but I must admit that this collection did leave me a bit underwhemled. Yeah, the bags, the metal embellishments and dresses were great. So was the military thread of the collection and the use of fur for the finale pieces. But, I don't know... I just expected more. You know, another twist to the 'strong, sexy woman' we've come to expect of Versace.

Gucci

I'm a Gucci girl through-and-through so naturally, I loved this collection. The gorgeous hues (think: fushcia, yellow, turquoise), exotic leathers, huge blossoms and furs just scream opulence. I particularly loved the oversized hats, bell-bottoms and tailored jackets. And it was lovely seeing Joan Smallz close the show. J'adore.

Technicolour Story

The first thing that struck me about this Quinta Witzel editorial for Elle UK March 2011 was the stunning rainbow colours and the amazing quality of the images. Lensed by Simon Burstall, Quinta sports, 2 beautiful silk jumpsuits and a gorgeous lace mini that I want in my wardrobe. Of course, the super high heels add to sexiness of the shoot aptly titled, 'The Girl Who Fell To Earth'. J'adore.

London Town is calling

Highlights from London Fashion Week Autumn 2011

Burberry Prorsum

The bright colours of Spring translated into Christopher Bailey's Burberry Autumn 2011 collection which was evocative of 60's chic. Not only did he embrace shapes, but he also played with plaids, chunky wedges, fur, and an incredibly cool cow print on equally cool hats. I loved the transition between the different colours during the show. The light blue trench coat is a must-have! Christopher continues to dazzle us.

Matthew Williamson

Vibrant colours take centre stage in Matthew Williamson's collection inspired by Francisco Infante-Arana, a Russian avant-garde painter. The beautiful models were clad in all kinds of boho prints, fur, feathers and fringes. I've always been a fan of his aesthethic and his bold choices. Love it.
