Balmania

Winning.

That would be the perfect way to describe Olivier Rousteing's Pre-Fall 2013 Balmain collection. Now, of course I am more than a bit biased on the matter, especially considering that my love affair with Balmain (my very own brand of Balmainia) began in Christophe Decarnin's glorious days at the celebrated French fashion house. So, instead, let me give you what I like to call this collection's fashion specs -  that is, the essential characteristics that any fashionable young person ought to be swayed by .

Firstly, the inspiration. The legendary columnist and editor, Diana Vreeland once said, "Extravagance is my only reality." Vreeland herself is the inspiration behind this collection, and the extravagance of this collection is very, very real. And it's all in the details, darling.

If it isn't the sparkle and shine of the ever-present gold and metallic embellishments, it's the Oriental screen-like mosaiced brown leather minidresses, the jewel tones, and the bamboo print and faux tortoiseshell (love!) - decorative touches evocative of Vreeland's office and other spaces.

Secondly, the tailoring. How beautifully tailored and draped are the pants? As a not-so-big fan of harem pants, I do love the distinct Japanese feel of the tailoring. The sculptural touches, the skin-tight trousers or sloucly pants, the high hemlines, the oversized folded jackets, and the boxy jackets - I mean...

Lastly, the dream. Of course the fact that Balmain is infamously expensive means that most of us can only literally but dream of owning a piece of any collection. However, even for its customers, it is Rousteing perfect mix of cultures, and just right elaborate statement with this collection, that one can only dream of that is alluring. Who wouldn't want to own a piece of this dream?

We have a problem

Yes we do have a problem. Isabel Marant is the goddam problem! Such freshness.

Heaven help us.

How's your breath doing there? Or what, am I the only one seriously out of breath at the sight of the beauty that is the much anticipated Teyana Taylor x Adidas Originals Harlem Good Luck Charm (GLC) sneakers? Now the sneaker was inspired by Teyana's passion for basketball. Let's start with the bronze scaled leather upper, the black sole, the black side panel Adidas branding, the studded tongue, and that open leather lace situation at the back, papa - no lie, they are beautiful!

Teyana's personal style has been on the up-and-up since her 'Google Me Baby' days - mmhmmh, check her on Instagram - and the freshness of these sneakers sure does tell the story. Hayi no, I want this Good Luck Charm for myself.

Good news is they will release to the general public on February 16th during, yup you guessed it, NBA All-Star Weekend.

Mix it up

So often when you look at editorials, they are either this or that - the styling is either super ladylike, super edgy, street or just plain grudge. A mixture, a little variance and serious eclecticism in styling, is not always the vogue. That's exactly what I like about this Vogue Spain January cover story. Patrick Demarchelier captures gorgeous Lithuanian model (one of my favourite models), Edita Vilkeviciute, in some unconventional styling by Belen Antolin. Edita channels sexy, elegant, chic, and rock and roll in a mixture of pieces from Roberto Cavalli and Lanvin, to Ralph Lauren and Jean-Paul Gaultier.

You know me, track pants and heels? They say it's wrong, but we say right.  Pssh, no question - a triumph.

Get your eagle on

Ladies and gentlemen, can we please take a moment to ruminate over the incredible work that Jeremy Scott is doing with Adidas Originals?

Man.

Now I knew the man was brilliant but these pieces from his upcoming collection right here? Some have called the design reference 'Totem' for its evocation of those distinct Native American monuments; others have called it reminiscient of an abstract eagle character. Jeremy Scott however, calls the design reference 'Eagle'. Either way I love the native aesthetic, especially on the JS Wings 2.0 that he has already interpreted in so many ways.

Sad news however for those State and Africa-side - the collezione will only be released in Asia and Europe. Pssh.
