Let's talk Saint Laurent Paris

Yeah, let's talk about how Hedi Slimane is absolutely, positively, murdering Saint Laurent Paris as the creative director. Now I guess the buzz of this Spring 2012 campaign, shot by Slimane himself, is that Australian model, Julia Nobis, has been tapped to head it, but my goodness, all I'm seeing here are the clothes...

Man, who not kill to be the Saint Laurent woman? Those oversized hats, those embellished tit-bits, the capes, that boyish fierceness - I cannot begin to explain the love I have for this...

'Ecstasy of the moment'

If it ain't broke, don't fix it, right? Well that certainly is the case with photographer, Hedi Slimane, and model, Anja Rubik. Whenever the two partner for an editorial, there can only really be one result - super elegant, eye-catching images.

A case in point is this enchanting editorial in the March issue of Vogue Japan. Slimane captures Rubik in art-deco patterns from Gucci and Gianfranco Ferre, amongst others. Anja is absolute perfection.

"Faces of Now"

The fashion industry is fickle. Trends come and go, fashions change every six months, and models are in great demand one season, starring in the latest campaigns and editorials, only to disappear into obscurity soon after.

Lensed by former Dior Homme artistic director and designer, Hedi Slimane, these models in V Magazine's #74 'Model Issue' are the "Faces of Now". They may not have the staying power of your Natasha Poly's, Vlada Roslyakova's, or Sasha Pivovarova's, but these trend-based models are rising stars whose faces have caught the spotlight, propelling them onto major runways and editorials.

The line-up includes, among others, Daphne Groeneveld, Ruby Aldrigde, Marique Schimmel, Hailey Clauson, Ilse de Boer and Andy Arthur, who each share with V their inspiration, model heros, and peer support in the industry.

Move with it

This Vogue Russia September 2011 editorial could be nothing else but incredible with Natasha Poly in front of the lens, and Hedi Slimane behind it. Natasha channels a mad mod beauty clad in the likes of Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquière, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Céline and Prada. There's no doubt about it, Natasha can move. J'adore.

"Transformer"

This is Anja Rubik as you've never seen her before. The Polish model transforms into a rock and roll rebel in this Hedi Slimane shot editorial for the latest issue V magazine (#72). I love all the gorgeous textures in black and white. And the styling by Melanie Ward is uber-chic - you really can't go wrong with Balmain, Louis Vuitton, Yves Saint Laurent and Dolce & Gabbana...

'Rebel Waltz'

Take one Agyness Deyn - rebellious, funky supermodel. Add one Hedi Slimane - talented photographer, known for his intense black and white portraits. Throw in a little casual wear from Burberry, Balmain, Gucci and Alexander Wang. The result? One incredibly striking editorial for the March issue of Vogue China. It's great to see Agyness around again - she looks gorgeous!
