I nearly passed out when I saw the price of these Jimmy Choo shoes...let's just say- in my dreams, I own a pair of these.

Because I'm a Cudder fan

There comes a time in music when this amazing artist comes along, and is an instant hit. Whether it be his/her music or demeanor, there's just something messianic about them...For me, right now, that artist is Kid Cudi. Not only do I love his music, but having followed him on Twitter, I have to say, the man is pretty cool too. There's just something so honest and unapologetic about his music; you can't help but get hooked. His album, 'Man on the Moon: The End Of Day', is literally otherworldly; to say he has talent, is an understatement. I mean, he's such a breath of fresh air in a music industry dogged by poor lyrical content and superficiality. So to all the Cudder fans of the world- UNITE. And if you have not had a listen to his CD yet, what are you waiting for???

Back to black

I recently spent the weekend watching all the shows from New York, London, and Milan Fashion Week, and I have to say, the amount (or lack there-of) of black models is shocking! Seriously, you cannot tell me that there aren't plenty of talented young black girls, who could completely rock the catwalk. Now, don't get me wrong, I don't expect a complete overhaul of the fashion industry, but I'm pretty sure there are numerous black models, who could make many agencies a ton of money, just waiting to be discovered. With that said, I think we should all celebrate the current crop of young black models taking the fashion industry by storm. Jourdan Dunn, Sessilee Lopez, Chanel Iman and Arlenis Sosa are doing extremely well in an industry where 'one day you're in, and the next day you're out' [Heidi Klum voice].

N.E.R.D

I absolutely love N.E.R.D! Their music is just so incredible. I mean, they have this je ne sais quoi that is extremely contagious. I first heard a couple of their songs from their latest album while watching the Alexander Wang show on Ftv, and I was like, this is the kind of music that I love! You know the kind that takes you to a place where everything is in perfect harmony, and all you need is you and your music? Yeah, that place. That's where I always go to spazz out...ok, 'You Know What' on repeat...

Stunners

Everywhere you go, someone has them on. Round, square, big, small, expensive, and not-so-expensive- every pair tells a different story. Sunglasses, or stunners as I like to call them, have become a cult accessory in recent years. Anna Wintour, Kanye West, Nicole Richie, Victoria Beckham and anyone who's anyone, is always sporting a pair. Sunglasses are great in terms of protecting your eyes from the sun, but what about wearing them indoors? I mean, celebs have a good reason to- you know, the flashing lights of the ever feisty paparazzi- but increasingly, more and more 'normal folk' are following suit. So I was thinking, is it simply the usual Hollywood band-wagon effect, or is there actually a tenable reason for this indoor-sunglasses-wearing-mania. So off I went to the mall in my white Wayfarers...then it hit me, people look so much better when you're wearing sunglasses! Seriously, even the palest people look like they've got a tan! Omg! However, despite my new found understanding of the indoor-sunglasses-wearing-mania, I still think people should exercise serious caution when picking out their shades. The number people wearing the WRONG shape for their faces is shocking. Perhaps they should have sunglasses assistants in shops to save people from looking like they just came from some kind of masquerade. Honestly, lo and behold!

Fashion Week, Mr West

So off I went to Sanlam SA Fashion Week on Saturday, to watch the Loxion Kulca and House of Ole show. This time around wasn't as exclusive as my first fashion week experience (with a designer invitation and a front row seat!), but it was an excellent soiree nonetheless. All those male models strutting down the runway, clad in gorgeous clothes and looking delectable..a sight many a women love to see...Anyway, that got me thinking about all the stylish men of the world. There are many, but the one that I especially love is...Kanye West. Yes, him. Now Kanye is not without controversy (you know, the VMA debacle); however, the man has style. The self-proclaimed Louis Vuitton Don always manages to look good, and the number of kanye West lookalikes in the streets nowadays, certainly cements his style icon status. On the Kanye note, I have to mention his on again, off again girlfriend, Amber Rose. Some have called her androgynous, others have called her alien-like (lol), but in my opinion, 'the bald one' is a pretty hot half-Cape Verdean, half-Irish mama. Wonder if she still would've gotten that Ford Models contract had she not been Kanye's girl...

My fashion loves...

Now as an avid follower of fashion, it would be extremely difficult for me to choose just one favourite designer. Seriously, there are so many amazing designers to choose from. Take Gucci for example- the collections from the past 3 seasons have been killing me softly. I mean last season's Fall/Winter ready-to-wear collection was insane; with all the metallics, fitted pants, and thigh-high, sky-high boots (and who could forget that crystal-encrusted suit worn by the stunning Anja Rubik?). Then we have Balmian...when I saw those weathered jeans, metallic shoes, and heavenly double-breasted jackets with the shoulder pads; I was like, alleluyah- manna from heaven! I could carry on for days...and, believe me, that is not a hyberbole. Seriously, for me, fashion is a lifestyle, a culture, art, an intrinsic part of every human society. Some people may not have as much of an infatuation with it as I do, but do not despair. Yours truly will keep you in the know with the fashion deets that matter...
