Wining and Dining with KWV

When the lovely people behind the KWV Friends for Dinner concept offered me the chance to host my very own dinner, I jumped (with great joy) at the opportunity. With my upcoming trip to the States and my sister's graduation, I had big reason to celebrate - ie. lots of good wine and food! They gave me plenty of wine and a budget, and I had free range to create a dinner celebrating how I like to enjoy my wine.

I chose to have an informal dinner on the 23rd of July at Meli's Lounge in Pimville, with the theme 'Fashion meets food'. I felt that that was an apt theme what with all the stylish people I know, and sartorially, none of my dinner guests disappointed. But, I have to say, the wine was the showstopper.

The KWV Pinotage Rose, Chenin Blanc Chardonnay and Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon went down very well with the all the delicious food we had (my 20 dinner guests will definitely attest to that!). That was an incredible night that I am sure we will not forget any time soon.

Alexander the great

Can we please have a moment of silence for the stunning artistic surrealism that is these Alexander McQueen Spring 2011 wedges?

If you don't like it, swap it

Shopping is one of my favourite past-times, but sometimes, I'll buy something that I love at first glance (say, a hat or super high heels), but when I get home, all I can do is think - what was I thinking? Or, you know that awkward moment when someone gives you a gift and while you graciously accept it, in your mind you're thinking - ok, what in the world am I going to do with this?

Naturally, I have quite a few quality items lying around that I never wear or never use.

So that's why I am really excited about this brilliant Swapping Mall that Capitec Bank is having from 30-31 July in Johannesburg, in the spirit of National Savings month. You get to bring all the good quality stuff you no longer want and you can swap it for good quality stuff someone else no longer wants. I get to save my money (for future shopping) and not spend it. Alleluyah!

I've already gotten into the swapping thing of things as part of the Live Free Project. Last week, I received this pretty flower brooch from a fellow blogger, that I swapped with a small jewllery box I received as a gift.

What's also really cool about this concept is that the item came with a tag which explains the story behind the item from the previous owner. I've always loved brooches, so I think I'll use this brooch pretty often.

The tag read: Roses are red,
Violets are blue;
I didn't know how to wear this
So I gave it to you!
So if you too would love to get your swap on at Capitec Bank's Swapping Mall, visit Capitec Bank's Facebook page for a floor plan of the mall and how it all works, and check out some more details about it below. I'll definitely be there!

This August 2011 Vogue Paris editorial may not be the best giant editorial we've seen from them, but I really enjoyed anyway. With Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin behind the lens and an all star cast of Lara Stone, Freja Beha Erichsen, Isabeli Fontana, Natasha Poly and Arizona Muse, we get to see some of the biggest labels shown off, in the cool urban backdrop of L.A.

My favourte shots have to be Natasha with Superman behind her, and Lara lifting weights with lace panties on - death! The styling by Emmanuelle Alt is also right on point.
