There is no bigger G than Rihanna. Clad in Gucci, she covers the Autumn/Winter edition of 032 Magazine in a Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin shot I absolutely love. The cross, the eyes... Better than that GQ Medusa?

My first cover!

So the cat's out the bag now - I am one of the Edgars Active ambassadors and this is my very first cover! This is the PLAY magazine from last week Friday's The Star newspaper. I love the shot. Be on the lookout for our Edgars Unstoppable commercial on South African tv now. Happiness.

Emma Stone has got me absolutely love stoned (pun intended!) with this eye-catching cover for Interview Magazine's September issue. Photographed by Mikael Jansson, lights up the camera in futuristic ensembles from the likes of Yves Saint Laurent, Lanvin and Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquière. Neon lights, trench coats - Emma pulls off the alien, futuristic vibe to a t! I must admit that I didn't quite understand all the fashion love Emma was getting in the beginning, but this girl is proving all the time that she's got the fashion (and modeling) thing down pat. Respect.

That's the money shot right there. Ah!

What's the September issue of Vogue Italia without an incredible cover? Well, nothing, because just all their other September covers over the years, this one is right up there in terms of greatness. Seriously. Carolyn Murphy, in Prada, lensed by Steven Meisel, surrounded by some creepy but can't-take-your-eye-off-them mannequins - child! J'adore.

There's good reason why Jac features in so many beauty shoots - she is a stunner with a perfect face for beauty shots. The eyes, the nose, even the teeth... A case in point? This Viva! Moda (love the name right?) autumn edition cover lensed by Maciek Kobielski. And it doesn't hurt my liking of this cover that she dons gown from one of my favourite Gucci collections yet - the recent autumn collezione.

So photographer Mikael Jansson shot two Stones (Stones, as in last name Stones. Emma and Lara kinda Stone. Ok, nevermind). This is Dutch model Lara Stone sporting some wild hair and a dazed, but powerful look for the Autumn/Winter The Last Magazine cover. Sexy and iconic - like only Lara Stone can.

Terry(fic)

So I just happen to be in the June issue of Marie Claire South Africa talking about about all things Zee Fashionista, and my love of all things French - that is French food, French style, French men, and, and...

It is definitely an honour for me to be featured in Marie Claire not only because is it one of the best women's magazine's in South Africa, but it also happens to be right up there with my favourite monthly reads. Terry Pheto, a talented South African actress who currently stars as a heart surgeon on The Bold and the Beautiful, is the cover girl. I must admit, I want Terry's life. I mean modeling Louis Vuitton in Paris for the cover shoot, and getting invited as a special guest by Louis Vuitton to attend their ready-wear runway show - seriously?

Buhlebonga alerted me to Sbosh Mafu's tweets on the hype surrounding the cover - you know, a black woman on the cover of a magazine usually deemed 'white' and I must say, I do agree with her.

No doubt this is a great cover, with a deserving cover star. But if we did have more black women on the covers of local magazines, in a country with primarily black people and with magazine target audiences that are (surprisingly or unsurprisingly) primarily black, maybe there wouldn't need to be so much hype. Hype that is sometimes more about the mere appearance of a black cover star rather than the actual merit of the women being the cover star.

That's my piece. How do you feel about the matter?

Lensed by Matthew Brookes, model Saskia de Brauw covers the April/May edition of L'Officiel Netherlands.

French actress and singer, Vanessa Paradis, looks all rebellious on the Interview Russia's May cover. Has she really split with Johnny Depp, anyway?

Liya Kebede graces the May cover of Harper's Bazaar Spain glad in sophisticated pieces from Gucci's Spring 2012 collection.

Quite simply, Candice Swanepoel is one of the most beautiful models today. That face, that body... Ok. Ok. Maybe I am just a bit biased about the matter considering that she is South African... Either way, Ms Swanepoel exudes serious glamour on the June cover of Vogue Japan in a Gucci sequinned flapper dress that fast becoming a cover staple. J'adore.

Victoria Beckham sizzles on this Chen Man-shot Harper's Bazaar China May cover. Is she just not getting even hotter with age?

I'll be honest. I didn't really care much about this cover. It's Guinevere van Seenus on the beach for Vogue Germany's May cover. Alright. Cool.

But - she is wearing some Lanvin jewellery. Now that is cause for this cover to be on Zee Fashionista.

What? It's Lanvin. You know I love Lanvin, now...

Pure fierceness is what Keira Knightley brings to the April Interview Magazine cover. Mert & Marcus capture the English actress in red lips and all black everything, leaving us with no doubt that the naked truth is that Keira is just plain hot!

The ever-beautiful British hottie, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, covers the April edition of Vogue Brazil in a retro-printed piece from Animale's Autumn 2012 collection that I just love.

Puerican Rican beauty, Joan Smalls', star continues to rise as she covers yet another Vogue magazine. This time it's Vogue Australia, and in this May cover shoot, photographer Kai Z Leng captures Joan as she hits the streets in chic, elegant looks from the likes of Nina Ricci, Proenza Schouler and Rochas.

Britain certainly does have talent as is evident in the third issue of Ponystep whose Spring/Summer cover celebrates five of Britain's biggest names. Lensed by Miles Alridge, models Jourdan Dunn and Georgia may Jagger, actress Joan Collins, and heiress Daphne Guiness, pose for some pretty beautiful and colourful portraits.

France's model du jour, Amyeline Valade, is all pretty in red on Numero's April cover.

Covers are meant to entice, aren't they?

I must admit that of late I have bought magazines solely on the basis of their cover stars (a case in point - my mild obsession with the latest issue of F.A.B Magazine because Mr Hotness himself, British model Dudley O'Shaughnessy - aka Rihanna's co-star in the 'We Found Love' video - is on the cover (double yay!)).

With that said, here are some of favourite January and February 2012 magazine covers:

South African model Candice Swanepoel + a super shiny and super hot Balmain dress + her blonde slinked back hair + a killer pose = c'mon! This could only have made for a fierce January 2012 Harper's Bazaar Spain cover.

Dakota Fanning has sure grown up fast, but I'm sure if like her looking as grown as she does on the February cover of Elle UK. Lensed by David Slijper, Dakota is clad in ladylike looks from the Spring collections of, amongst others, Dolce & Gabbana and Louis Vuitton.

We haven't seen English model Lily Cole in a while, but here she finally is on the Anthony Maule-photographed January 2012 cover of Vogue Russia.

Photographed by KT Auleta, Elsa Sylvan dons a luxurious red coat for the January cover of Vogue Turkey.

The January issue of Vogue Brazil is most certainly a Brazilian affair with the Brazilian trio of models, Tayane Leao, Lais Ribeiro and Marcelia Freesz on the J.R. Duran-lensed cover of the magazine. The tropical setting is always is so refreshing around this time of year.
