G4Life

There is no bigger G than Rihanna. Clad in Gucci, she covers the Autumn/Winter edition of 032 Magazine in a Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin shot I absolutely love. The cross, the eyes... Better than that GQ Medusa?

All hail, her highness Rihanna

Taylor Swift won the first ever Best Look Award at the 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards in Frankfurt on 11 November 2012. If you ask me, it's a tragedy.  The Best Look award is supposed to celebrate the music star with the greatest style of the year, as voted for by you. I don't know who the 'you' was but it certainly is not me!

District MTV introduced the five shortlisted stars for the inaugural award, each with a very different look – Rihanna, Jack White, A$AP Rocky, Nicki Minaj and of course, Taylor. With the most votes overall, Ms Swift took the award.

So in case, like MTV, you'd forgotten who has the best look out of those 5:

And these are just looks from the past two months...

Nicolas leaves Balenciaga

This here world of fashion we love is full of shockers. The latest is luxury giant PPR's announcement that Nicolas Ghesquière, the man who revolutionised Balenciaga as creative director for 15 years, is parting ways with the Parisian House.

The great surprise lies in the fact that with Ghesquière's influence, Balenciaga's incredible runway collections and accessories lines have received major kudos over the years, and even the PPR executives themselves were said to pleased with Ghesquière's performance.

And while we will miss the jelly he was to Balenciaga's peanut butter, I choose here to celebrate his hard-edged, geometric, and feminine designs with some of my favourite Balenciaga pieces.

When our patron saint of fashion flyness, Rihanna, released promo pictures in anticipation of her 6th studio album, "Talk That Talk", she took to wearing some cut-out flat Balenciaga boots from the 2011 Spring/Summer collection that I would still kill for to this day. Imma have to keep tryna kill for them considering that they retail for $1275. Quality, as we know too well, must be paid for. Riri's been hitting high scores with her style - lawd!

As the face of Balenciaga's new Florabotanica fragrance, Kristen Stewart is in fact one of Ghesquière most recent muses. Here she stepped out at the AFI Festival this past weekend in what is my favourite look from Balenciaga's latest collection - a tailored two-piece with a seriously sexy bra top. This is just one example of that Balenciaga sexy - chic, with Parisian sensibilities.

So Joan Rivers reckons that these Balenciaga printed pants that Kristen donned in Cannes earlier this year look like some kind of fungus or growth. And yes, if you look closely enough they do kind of look like something that might grow on bread that's been in a sealed container, in a dark room, for way too long...

But alas, I love them. They're what I like to call 'rhizopus stolonifer chic'. Yeah. Shoot me - I love Balenciaga!

Leave that Boy alone!

What do Andy Warhol, Madonna, Rihanna, Jessie J, Punks, club kids, and New Romantics have in common? All of these fashionistas have worn the iconic clothing brand, BOY. Founded in 1977 by Stephane Raynor, BOY has a rich, whirlwind history. William Wright desribes the brand thus: "Adopted as the uniform of choice for every youth movement that has mattered, the brand has outlived them all, with the unmistakeable spirit that underpins all things BOY remaining the same today as when it was first formed..."

At the height BOY's fame in the 80s and 90s, the acid house movement was adorned with signature BOY tees. BOY was the label of the decade not just for its innovative new trends and styles, but also for its notoriety. From its riotous catwalk shows, to the scandalous happenings at the brand's Parisian nightclub 'CLUB BOY', BOY was on everyone's lips. Despite its popularity and notoriety, BOY closed its doors in the 90s under the growing pressure of the international market. But as with all good stories, it does not end there.

Loyal BOY fans kept the brand alive in charity shops around the world, and finally, in 2007, founder Stephane relaunched the label at his latest store, SICK, in East London. Today BOY, with its classic prints and one-off pieces, is back in demand. A staple at basement parties, design studios, and in Rihanna's kick-ass closet, BOY now has a generation of new, young fans. It goes wothout saying that I am one of them. BOY leggings, repeat vest, and rara skirt on order...

Ah, this is the kind of fashion I live for. J'adore.

Scent just in

So my brand new scent is Reb'l Fleur by Rihanna. Now when Rihanna spoke of the inspiration behind the fragrance at its launch in Macy's Department Stores in January last year, she said, "I wanted…something that said 'Rihanna was here.' Something delicious and special, a fragrance with subtle hints that linger and leave a sexy memory." And leave a memory it does. Not only is its edgy bottle enticing - a horn shaped, slashed with black, and adorned with black and gold bottle topper rings little thing - but its unique spicy, flowery, musky tint is a complete winner. This is one celebrity fragrance that I will be wearing for a long time. Perfectly saucy and perfectly innocent. J'adore.

Hate her or love her, but you gotta admit, she can be stylish sometimes. (Love the Christian Louboutin shoes and the Chanel bag).
