Out at Sprite

beanie: 2 BOP - dungaree: TOPSHOP - sheer crop top: YDE (mmhmm) - boots: Zara - bag: Zara - Rings: TOPSHOP + LOVISA

So on the 25th of August, we hit up Zone 6 Venue in Soweto, Johannesburg for the finals of the Sprite Uncontainable event. What an awesome event it was. A major shout out to my Philosophy buddy Tony for winning the MC category and an all-round fly, talented chic, Tarryn for winning the dancing category.

And my outfit - monochrome all day baby! Those leather dungarees are it! I'm in love.

You know what it is - my love of monochrome is on one hundred thousand trillion. I should add leather here also; I'm forever in it. And these Zara cut-out boots I'm wearing here - I tell you, I nearly died when I first saw them. The jacket - you won't believe where I got it (Cotton On, yeah!) and thank God for that (it was the last one!)

KTZ

I don't know how I've been watching London Fashion Week and missing the renowned cult hybrid brand that is Kokon To Zai. I recently discovered it and yeah, you guessed it, love! This video is of their 2012 Autumn/Winter collection but the Russian church orthodox, punk, ninja situation going in the latest Summer KTZ collection - death. I want it all.

Join the Cult

CULT COLLECTIVE. Remember that name.

This Johannesburg based t-shirt brand and its energy has been etched my mind ever since I attended their launch event last month. Formed in 2011 by Miroslav Bijelich and William Ndatila, CULT COLLECTIVE is not your average t-shirt brand that sticks to trends, panders to the masses, and in general, sticks with the normal fashion script. No. CULT COLLECTIVE is about experimenting with fashion as an art form. It is about taking decades of iconography, and freely spunking and funkying it up in whatever way they please. What CULT COLLECTIVE treads is a thin line between sacrilege and homage.

And why just the humble t-shirt to tap into the conversations we the #Hashtag generation are having, to express the zeitgeist? "We felt that t-shirts were a simple but appropriate canvas to make a statement," the designer pair say. "T-shirts are everyday items that can sum up your whole look. They provide a simple platform to create a statement with a lasting impression as one braves the day."

If you too are a lover of psychedelic clothing like am, for general inquiries, contact the brand at info@cultcollectiveapparel.com. I'm definitely joining the cult.

Ni'ma, you beauty, you

They'll tell you about her style. Undoubtedly, American model, stylist and creative director, Ni'ma Ford, has plenty of that - many have interviewed her her for style and she's even graced the cover of The Sartorialist, Scott Schuman's, book 'Closer'.

What they don't need to tell you about is her striking beauty and  fiercelook. I mean, she had me at that platinum hair - how incredible does it look against her skin tone?

As you can tell, I'm way past captivated!

The Kings & Queens of Instagram #2

"I said I see your Jill Sanders, Oliver Peoples
Costume National, your Ann Demeulemeester
See Visvim be the sneaker, Lanvin or Balmain
Goyard by the trunk, her Isabel Marant"

These are the lyrics from the second verse of American rapper A$AP Rocky's aptly titled, "Fashion Killa", off Long.Live.A$AP. Now that's gotta tell you something about the man. You see A$AP Rocky, aka Lord Flacko, aka Dat PMF, aka Rakim Mayers, isn't just rattling off about brands he's heard of and here and here and can afford just because. Na. The fashion magazines will tell you, Rocky sure does know what he's talking about. He lives fashion.

Of course, I am more than a tiny bit biased on A$AP Rocky - I basically live off Live.Love.A$AP. and Long.Live.A$AP. but his Instagram definitely tells the story of his fashion killa status. From Hood by Air to PYREX Vision and DKNY, to Raf Simons, Alexander Wang and Jeremy Scott, to all white/black ensembles and his bags of monochrome looks, A$AP Rocky will continue to be cited as a source of style. And he's reach extends beyond hip hop. If his ever-increasing magazine covers, fashion photo shoots, and appearances at fashion week are anything to go by, Rocky's on to something good.

He's not afraid to tell you either.  "All my videos are shitting on any Hip Hop video out there. Let's be honest. The reason why everybody is wearing gold again is because of your boy. Everybody's wearing diamonds. I'm the one who made the John Lennon shades with the glasses - everybody wearing it now, you see what's going on now," he tell LA Leakers.

"Come on, who brought gold teeth back? Let's be honest... Honestly, I brought it back in a dramatic way. I made braids hot. Let's get off trends... But moving aside from the fact that I broke boundaries with not only that, but what other rapper is on the cover of Vogue?"

Mmhmm. Follow him on Instagrameezy at asvpxrocky

Rita, I want your clothes!

I won't lie, I stalk Rita Ora's Instagram for her street style. I mean, her street style is on one hundred trillion. Like, super, super high score kind of business. Not only does she wear some of my absolute favourite brands but she puts them together in such a cool way I wanna die.

I want all your clothes, Rita!

And I'm not the only one in love with Rita. The British singer gets all dolled up for the May 2013 edition of ELLE US that is all about women in music. Rita kills it in front of photographer Thomas Whiteside's lens in haute couture from the likes of Chanel and Dior. ♥
